Let’s be honest; 2020, for many of us, was not what we anticipated. Broken plans, new policies, revamping work or school arrangements, and trying to keep up with things day to day has kept us on our toes. In some cases, it has also had us feeling very overwhelmed. While acknowledging the challenges we face is necessary, I know I could find myself completely focused on the difficult things I encountered.
I had to revisit some of the methods I’ve found useful to reintroduce thankfulness into my life. Here are 2 Tips that I’ve used to encourage me to be thankful and ground me in more positive thinking.
Look for it.
Look around you. What do you see? Find the good in everything around you to keep a grateful perspective. Are you sitting on a comfy chair right now? Are you warm in your home? Even the fact that you can read this blog post on a device right now. Find the positives in your life and be thankful to have them.
Keep at it.
Keep at it. You may have days where you slip, and you want give-up but keep going. With any change, it can be hard to maintain new behaviours. There will be days that you forget or don’t want to keep at it. However, you can. Give yourself the grace to have off days and try again tomorrow. Be persistent and keep at it.
One day at a time and one foot in front of the other is sometimes how life plays out. I am thankful for friends who provide encouragement to keep going and who are quick to show gratitude.
