Gratitude can't wait

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” –William Arthur Ward

Is anyone on your mind lately? Is there a “Thank you” that you’ve been meaning to share? Have you caught yourself singing someone’s praises but realized you haven’t directly communicated that praise to the individual?

There are so many ways that you can express your thankfulness. I did a quick google search and saw some impressive lists and ideas on how to demonstrate gratitude. As with most things in life you can go the grandiose route or the simpler path.

When it comes to saying thank you I’m going to recommend acting swiftly. Don’t delay that gratitude any longer – act now! Can you really over thank someone? By keeping your timeline tight you ensure that the thank you doesn’t get lost in the busyness of life.

Do your best to communicate your gratitude in person. While a text or email is easy to fire off, there’s something deeper in a handwritten note or face to face communication. Be specific in your message and highlight the act or traits that you’ve appreciated. Perhaps publicly recognize this individual’s efforts or exemplary work.

Gift an item that will mark the moment. We’ve discussed Love Languages over the years and Gifts are in the top 5 ways that people receive love. Gift baskets, gift cards, paying for an experience, celebrating with a meal, or choosing a meaningful item are great ways to say that you’re thankful.

There’s no limit to who you can be thankful for or how you can express your gratitude - so get to it!
