We’ve just gone through a slew of Appreciation Days. Administrative professionals, Teacher Appreciation week, Mother’s Day, and Nurses Appreciation week to name a few. I personally have received notes and gifts of appreciation recently so I’m definitely not going to complain about appreciation weeks. A dear friend closely follows the “Days of the Year” and regularly brings to my attention the highlighted theme of the day or the week.
For example, today, May 14th is part of Bike to Work week, as well as Chihauhau day. Now Chihauhau’s are not my preferred dog breed and from my searches there isn’t a day dedicated to Elkhounds. Which gets me wondering how many people out there are feeling a little left out of Appreciation Days?
Foods and animals; languages and ailments; hobbies and professions; there are people raising awareness for profoundly meaningful or sometimes curious causes. Have you looked into these Appreciation days? Are any of them near and dear to your heart? Let us know what gaps there are and which people, professions, or causes you think need days or weeks dedicated to them!
Once you've told us who you think needs more appreciation, get out there and let them know that they came to your mind. Perhaps with one of our Make it Local gifts!
