Strategy #9: Culture Rules!

Work to be a culture-centered and principled company.  A place where everyone who enters your company’s sphere can expect the same treatment, values, beliefs, and overall experience. When factors such as price and variety can contribute to similar looking companies, culture and values will often make one company stand out among the rest. Why not build a customer base who values the same principles as you do? Company culture, as defined by Merriam-Webster’s is “the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization”. Think back to the last time you had an exceptional experience with a company representative. How did their beliefs match their brand, their store, their products, and their services? Although they may not be the best company (it’s subjective), everyone on their team believes their product is the best, and that mentality is contagious. The culture of your organization breathes into every aspect of its life. Among your team, it’s how they relate to each other, how they communicate, and the way they treat each other, customers, products and services. Culture is a shared mentality with a common purpose.

  • What are your values and core principles?
  • What is your authentic purpose within the community?
  • How does your company structure influence your culture?
  • How can you effectively communicate your values both internally (employees) and externally (customers)?
  • How do your beliefs bleed into your branding, mission statement, slogan, etc?
