Celebrate World Chocolate Day!
Some themes get a week or even a month and I think that Chocolate should get more than a DAY of recognition! Chocolate is amazing and it may even need to be promoted to its own food group on the food pyramid! The history of this day is suggested to be the anniversary of the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550. The observance of World Chocolate Day dates back to 2009. I experienced my first taste of sugar in the form of a Nanaimo Bar when I was about 2 years old. The first nibble of sweetness had me hooked and I've been refining my chocolate tastes ever since. I've been known to bring home a collection of chocolates on international trips and I have a fondness for dark chocolate that many of my friends find confusing. It would be a rare occasion to not find a variety of chocolates in my home and my niece knows where she can encounter an impressive seletion of tasty treats anytime she visits.
I've seen chocolate sculptures, fountains that run the length of a wall, dipped fruits and artisan chocolates, and seen some impressive blends of flavours and % of cocoa. Ther are so many ways to enjoy this wonderful treat! I encourage you to celebrate World Chocolate Day with a friend and perhaps your own custom designed chocolate charcuterie board!
