Yes! There is a day to celebrate the great pinot grigio and we are here for it. One of our favourite whites holds a history that dates back thousands of years. Fun fact about pinot grigio that will make you sound super smart: the grapes that are used to make this wine are originated in the Burgundy region of France and was originally called Pinot Gris. It was officially noted in 1375, when Emperor Charles IV spread the vies to other parts of the Holy Roman Empire. As time went on, the grapes made their way through Europe and was believed to be introduced in Italy in the 19^th century. It was in Italy that our beloved Pinot Grigio was developed into the wine that we know and love today.

There is your history, but the fact remains simple: WE LOVE IT! BUT did you know that there are a bunch of things you can do with P.G that don’t necessarily involve drinking it? We don’t know why you would want to but here they are:

Baking: Yup! You can actually use it to make pie crusts. Unlike water, combining P.G with flour does not produce gluten, which can lead to a rather tough dough if you overwork it. Using P.G in your crust recipe will not only yield a sweeter taste but also a less glutenous and more tender crust. Who knew?

Pasta: Do you love carbonara? Throw in a dash, a generous one at that, in the pan after you have sizzled your pancetta. This will elevate the flavour of your pancetta and really take your dish to the next level. Invite some friends over, try it and they may think you’re hiding world-class cooking skills. You are welcome!

Cocktails: Firstly we drink our P.G, obviously, but we can also use it to create other concoctions that are equally, if not more, delightful.  Look up these recipes: Tropical Pineapple Sangria, Mint Pinot Grigio Wine Cocktail, White Wine Spritzer with Fruit, and Bicicletta. Or get creative! We believe in you.
