There is POWER in your smile! A smile can say so many things.....when genuine of course😉 A smile can be expressed to welcome a long-awaited friend or loved one. A smile can be an expression of gratitude for receiving a beautiful gift basket from The Gift Designers. A smile can be an outward expression of an internal sentiment. You might be smiling to yourself after receiving the gratitude expressed from a person you had given one of our fabulous gift baskets too! A smile can be a result of feeling empowered, clever, or victorious. What do you feel when you smile?? What does your smile say to others?

Interestingly enough, as there are theories for almost everything imaginable, there are several identifiable smiles. Here are some that we were able to drum up for your information:

The Polite Smile – you do this often, whether you actually mean it or not. Polite smiles help us to maintain a kind of discreet distance between people.

The Flirtatious Smile – studies have found that attractiveness is heavily influenced by smiling. You are welcome!

The Embarrassed Smile – usually accompanied with head movements and facial touching , the embarrassed smile does not last very long.

The Duchenne Smile – the smile of genuine enjoyment, where your entire face seems to light up suddenly.

The Wistful Smile – the ability to smile through difficult times. The sheer dexterity of human emotion is astonishing!

The Affiliative Smiles – an actual tool used to function as a social connector....who knew? An affiliate smile can be used to reassure others, to be polite, communicate trustworthiness and can be perceived as an expression of compassion.

The Reward Smiles – a smile that you use to encourage you and motivate both ourselves and others

The Dominance Smile – did you know that a smile can actually be used to make others feel less powerful or to expressed one’s perceived superiority? It’s sinister and we do not like it.

The Lying Smile – just don’t.
