In a world where technology seemingly reigns supreme, it is  rare and truly special, to find those who enjoy books. We do not mean audio books or even books that you have downloaded on a device, but rather a real, spined book that smells like a wealth of knowledge and history (depending on what you like to read 😉)

This Saturday, April 23^rd, marks the official World Book Day. The acknowledgement of books was only created a short time ago, in 1995, and was marked in more than one hundred countries around the globe. Founded by Baroness Gail Rebuck, the creation of this day was meant to do something to reposition the message behind reading in that reading is fun, relevant, accessible, exciting and has the power to transform lives! We believe this to be true. Think of all the great literature that has been composed over the years. They have evoked imaginations and the ability for one to dream beyond their current reality. Reading gives insight into the infinite possibilities of life and existence, opening our minds to deeper thoughts and emotions.  It is in reading the stories of others, that we are moved with compassion and perhaps motivated to try new things or even overcome seemingly insurmountable circumstances. Reading shapes humanity and while not all reads are necessarily good, they are certainly influential.

We challenge you this weekend to take a moment, sit, open a book, and read. It doesn’t have to be a whole book, perhaps only a few pages, but allow what you read to move you from your current reality even if only for a moment. Hopefully taking the time will spark something within us that creates a habit and inspires us to read once again and hopefully WHAT we read, will help us to find the beauty in our lives.
