Staycation: Social media during the summer can sometimes make it feel like “everyone” you know is on a holiday. Beaches, museums, European getaways, road trips, and glamping photos are exciting but it’s not quite the same seeing other people’s adventures.
I’ve been looking into some staycation ideas! Ways to make the most of your days if getting away from home isn’t in the cards this summer. There’s nothing stopping you from playing tourist in your hometown – museums aren’t just for exploring in foreign destinations.
There are tourism apps for many Canadian cities which offer ideas and discounts to local attractions. The Tourism Calgary app for example, features Luge, a variety of activity parks, a Science Centre, Museums, the Zoo, and more! You can even collect points for visiting multiple destinations and exchange them for gift items.
How about some zero admission ideas: Backyard campout, tubing the river, pack a picnic, at home spa day, late night star gazing, see what your local library is offering for programs, look up city walks, wander a street market, or maybe throw on a movie marathon to escape the midday heat!
It’s not the destination alone that makes for memorable moments. Share your staycation with people you love! Let us know if you have staycation secrets to add to our list for this summer!
