As mothers, we seriously need to free ourselves from the self-imposed expectation of perfection. I have heard that between having more children and becoming more mature (essentially getting older 😉), we become easier going, tolerant and more willing to give ourselves a break. For now, many of us dread the idea that we are failing. I assure you; we are not. Here are a few quick blunders that might boost your mom-confidence because we have ALL been there!

“I grabbed what I though was a V8 Fusion out of the fridge and put it in my son’s lunch bag. It turned out to be a Shock Top Beer.....I thought he was getting his veggies – not so much”

“I decided to try and save some money by cutting my son’s hair. This was that ‘uh-oh’ moment when I realized I got a little too carried away with the clippers. Let’s just say there aren’t too many ‘after’ photos for several months”

“I was taking a picture of our daughter to announce she would be a big sister when she decided to dive off the bed. Luckily, her dad did catch her before she hit the ground!”

“You have not experienced the real walk of shame until you have padded down the hallway of your pediatrician’s office and announced to the front office and the adjacent waiting room, “I dropped my baby and I think someone should check him out”

Moms, we are not alone. Life has peaks and valleys. One day you are on the proverbial mountain top, just killing it all around and the next, you are rolling through the drive-thru for the umpteenth time in a week fully aware that the kids will not make it to bed on time, but you know what? It is all good and you are amazing!

As May and our celebration of mothers everywhere comes to an end, we encourage you to rally around one another in support. Let’s take the time to love on each other and build one another up. Gifts are great. They offer sentiments of appreciation and care for the days when mom might feel less than queen-like. A gift to mom can give her the opportunity to relax and enjoy a little decadence once in a while.
