As many of you may know, or not, International Nurses Day is celebrated in honour of Florence Nightingale who was the revolutionary who paved the way for modern nursing and championed sanitary health. A hero in the field, Ms. Nightingale worked to establish nursing as a respected profession, creating opportunity for women everywhere. Ms. Nightingale, we thank you!
Where would be without the dedication, commitment, kindness, and nurturing care offered by the countless nurses that have worked on our behalf over the years. At some point in your life, you would have met one, whether you were personally ill, or you had accompanied a loved one to care. I personally cannot recall a time where a nurse did not go above and beyond for either myself, a family member, or a friend. I do however recall, a sense of gratitude for the genuine care and concern offered.
Today we encourage our community and valued guests to give back to the nurses around you. Nursing is a profession that can often be overlooked and disregarded considering others. I have heard of many nurses who become burned out, over-worked, discouraged, altogether forlorn and yet they continue to press through and persevere on our behalf. A token of appreciation, no matter the size would be joyful welcomed. Imagine giving your all, day in and day out, with little to know encouragement and then one day being surprised with sentiments of gratitude. It would no doubt lift your spirits for days or even months to come! Let’s do this for our Nurses. Let’s filled their cups to overflowing with joy and gratitude.
Blessings to all the beautiful hearts found in nurses. We cherish and appreciate you!
