Mealtime – Everyday? How do you do it?

Our kids like to eat and by eat, I mean a whole lot. Mealtimes can become cumbersome and taxing on mom. Even in our best efforts of planning everything out, moms can still struggle. To the mothers who have miraculously not missed a beat, we salute you, seriously, a standing ovation. However, for the mothers like myself, the struggle is real, and we are here to support one another! Let’s take a moment to explore the alternatives, shall we?

Starvation is not ideal, but a day won’t kill anyone, and your kids should be able to tough it out right? Just kidding. We DO NOT recommend starvation.

Take Out is every kid’s favourite. The drive-thru can be very helpful at times when you’ve had a long day and need a break. There are just so many to choose from. Also, there is no guilt here.

Dine-In because every now and again we all like to go out. Some of us tend to save the “fancy” restaurants for girls or date night, but there are some great family restaurants that offer wholesome, hearty, nutritious meals for your family.

Oven and microwave ready because they are also super easy. Pop dinner in, pop dinner out and voila!  Dinner is ready in under an hour. Not our favorite but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!

Then there are slow cookers, which are quite literally the eighth wonder of the world. They are such an incredible piece of kitchen machinery, that you can start and complete a meal with very little effort. The best part is that when you get home from work, the food is hot!

Our point here is this. Moms work hard, and this applies to both working and stay at homes moms. A full day with kids or at work can be completely exhausting and difficult to get through. Having to prepare a full, nutritious meal for your family in the evening, can be quite difficult to achieve when you are tired. Of course, home cooked meals are the best and we would all love to be able to do that daily, but if you struggle to find strategies on how to prepare for dinner everyday, that’s perfectly fine. You are human. If you are a mom who is rocking it on the meal planning, help your friends. You can either share your tips and tricks in the kitchen, or even swing by cook for a friend in need. One last suggestion? Give one of the fabulous DAY OFF! baskets from TGD 😉
