I am fascinated by wartime stories and historical fiction highlighting people's lives during the wars. I've visited German Concentration Camps, War Memorial Museums, and explored War Cemeteries. There's something so powerful about people's experiences during these awful times and I think it is our duty to remember and learn from these stories.
The gift of Freedom is that much more precious when you are able to take a look at its price tag.
I remember the horror and devastation I felt while I was touring the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and the deep conviction that this history not be forgotten. I've watched friends join the military and prayed that they would return; but also that their efforts would bring freedom to the areas their tours took them to.
"Lest we Forget" is a stark reminder of others' sacrifice and the privileged life I've been able to lead because of those sacrifices. Be sure to pause and reflect as we approach Remembrance Day.
