How we choose to perceive one another is exactly that; a choice. Everyday we can look at the people in our lives and decide what we want to believe about them. Do we focus on their flaws and perceived shortcomings? Are we watching for others to stumble so that we can condemn and say, “I would never!” Or are we choosing to see the best in those with whom our time is most spent, whether it is in the workplace, at home, or at the grocery store. In our places of work, this is especially significan. Here is an example of how I have chosen to view a few of my colleagues my colleagues:

Carmen has gorgeous hair and the most beautiful smile, and I love the way her voice ascends when she gets excited or thinks something is funny.

Cherie’s laughter is infectious. Her calm demeanor is refreshing, and she holds an incredible warmth and wisdom that I can’t put into words. Her family is so very blessed to have her.

Cyndie is joyful always. She has a youthful exuberance that will keep her young forever. She also gives the best hugs in the morning.

Noreen leads with compassion, kindness, wisdom, child-like enthusiasm, faith, creativity, love, hope, and ultimate faith and trust. She is incredibly sharp and hilarious. I am grateful for her.

This is how I personally choose to viewmy colleagues and my hope is that this reminds us all to be aware of the lens with which we view each other.
