How Clean is Clean For You?

How many of us truly indulge in “spring cleaning”? If you only do it once per year, doesn’t it become overwhelming? Let’s think about it. Once per year, some of us, dive into some serious decluttering, reorganization, scrubbing and polishing; all of which sounds like it could take days rather than hours. What if we were to practice these cleaning disciplines consistently throughout the year as opposed to making it one monumental job? With that being said there are some benefits to spring cleaning and here they are:

  • First of all, and obviously, cleaning is healthy. Have you ever watched the show “Hoarders”? Enough said.
  • Secondly, there is the matter of stress reduction. Have you ever felt anxious and chaotic in your own home? Look around. Things may drastically be out of place, and you may need to clean up or get rid of some things. Simplifying things in your life is likely to bring huge amounts of peace.
  • Cleanliness frees your brain and helps you to focus. With each belonging organized and in their rightful place, there is far less to divert your attention or distract you.
  • Cleaning and organizing is healthy.
  • Most importantly, cleaning makes you happy. Taking the time to clean, declutter and reorganize can have you feeling like a newer, lighter version of yourself.

There is also the mental and emotional components of spring cleaning. As spring is representative of hope, growth, and new beginnings, it is important to take mental and emotional inventory as well. What habits and mindsets do you need to get rid of? What feelings and emotions are you harboring that are not essential and may in fact be unhealthy? Might we suggest weighing the benefits above and do the same for your mental and emotional health?

While some may think that a progressive approach to cleaning, decluttering, and reorganizing is more practical, others are happier and eagerly anticipate the big spring clean. There is no judgement from us on either strategy. We want you to do what works best for you. Do you babes!!
