Stampede Countdown

My go-to “Never have I ever” claim for years was that I had never gone to the Calgary Stampede. I moved to Alberta when I was 11. That summer I went to a Children’s Camp that overlapped with the Stampede dates. I participated in camps in some capacity through to my 30s. This meant that my summer was typically occupied. I also was hesitant to go to the Stampede grounds. I didn’t really have a frame of reference for how many different elements it contained. I was given tickets to attend the Grandstand Show and my curiosity was piqued. Over the past handful of years I’ve managed to experience some Stampede Breakfasts, wandered the barns and exhibitions, taken in Superdogs and the Grandstand Shows. I’ve tasted a few of the food truck specialties, but I’ll be honest and say that I’m not aiming for the wild novelty foods like cricket pizza or whatever the fad flavour might be. I’ve never gone on the adult sized amusement rides but I crammed myself onto some of the kid rides last summer so that my niece was able to enjoy the height restricted options. I’m not typically a fan of crowds and lineups (is anybody?) so I try to be strategic in my attendance date and times. I will take a moment over the next week and see what day appeals to me most from the Stampede Calendar. For those who haven’t been, there are feature days with entry ticket offers and each day of the Stampede has different highlight shows, rodeo events, and concerts.

We have some lovely Stampede themed gifts available this year. You’ll want to take a look at these gifts if you have guests coming from out of town. These designs are a special gift to help them remember their trip.
