You Give Me Butterflies!

New love is filled with blissful infatuation. It is light-hearted and playful. Always wants to be together, like “close” together, and feels oh so good. New love stays up into the wee hours of the night, on the phone, conversing about any and everything. New love evokes that feeling of butterflies in your tummy. New love will stare into another’s eyes for what may feel like hours. New loves sees only the lovely in the object of its affection. New love, in the Greek language, is called Ludus Love.

Ok so here is the thing. Why is this just new love? I think the concept of Ludus should flourish in the fullness of relationships. Do you agree? Wouldn’t you want to be completely enamored with the person that you have chosen to intimately spend your life with? To wake up every morning next to them, excited to be with them and appreciating all the lovely things?

We understand. Life happens and not everyday is going to be a bed of roses. There will be conflict, there will be disagreements, there will be obstacles and challenges that could very well shake the foundations of your relationship. It is, however, important to remember all of the reasons why you fell in love with someone, and to keep those reasons at the forefront of your mind. At the end of the day, those qualities and quirky characteristics haven’t changed. They may look different, they may have evolved, but they are still there.

So as we approach celebrations of love, we challenge you to go back and explore that first love, new love, the falling in love feeling. Open your heart to experience laughter and playfulness with your significant other. Don’t be afraid to act like teenagers. Were those not the best years anyway?

“New love is grand. Savor all the crazy, muddled might of it!” – Eli Easton
